Onota Lake and Natural Bridge- Only 3 months late!

We've taken Walter to the beach and we knew that he liked water, but he had never actually gone swimming. John's main goal for this camp out was to find a place that would let Walter swim. The East Coast can be pretty discriminatory towards dogs sometimes, especially in swimming places. It's lame. You'd think they could designate at least one beach as a dog beach! Anyway, there was a big lake by our campground that allowed dogs, plus it's the off season so no one was swimming anyway. Walter did not hesitate to get in the water, but he got pretty nervous as John went further out. John led him deeper so that he had to swim and he did it! But he didn't like it. He was trying to get back to shore the whole time. So know we know that Walter is more of a puddle and stream kind of dog.

After an even worse night sleep because of some yahoo banging sticks trying to scare away bears or something we started our last day in the Berkshires. We wanted to drive to the top of Mt. Greylock which  is the highest point in Massachusetts. It was a cloudy day and the further we drove up the summit the foggier it got. It cost $2 to park at the top. We stopped at an overlook right before the top and could not see anything. I didn't want to pay $2 to look at fog so we turned around.

Our last stop in the Berkshires was Natural Bridge State Park. It had a small marble natural bridge. Honestly after visiting Arches National Park this was not impressive at all, but it was a cool little stop. The park is basically the remains of an old marble quarry that went out of business when the mill burnt down in the 50s I think. There is a marble dam that is the only one in America. Thus ended our weekend in the Berkshires.

The Natural Bridge. It's so little!
